Cavallino track day 2: let's go racing
Posted 2010/01/22 @ 6:00 PM
By Myles Kornblatt

The Cavallino Classic concluded its track days today, and as any Ferrari event should, it ended with a race. Ferraris on a track are always a treat for enthusiasts (rare cars in a rarely seen environment,) but now the Historic Challenge races make it extra special. With pride on the line engines get louder, turns are faster, and cars are driven harder. The whole experience gives a little taste of what these machines were like when they were competitive racers.

The historic cars that have been practicing over the last couple of days were divided into two classes: those with disc brakes and those without. It would take many long, drawn paragraphs to describe the sights and sounds of nearly priceless automobiles being driven at their limits, but the pictures and video do a better job (including an abbreviated version of the full disc-class race shown below.)

Saturday the race cars are joined by other rare metal crafted in Modena at the Breakers Resort for the Concorso d'Eleganza. We’ll be there to cover the event.
