Vauxhall is throwing a summer party Posted 2010/07/28 @ 08:00 AM By Myles Kornblatt
Here’s an interesting way to sell cars: host a trendy summer party.
Vauxhall, GM’s U.K. arm, is hosting a Sunday bowling party. For those who are not familiar with British bowling, it is an outdoor activity similar to bocce ball (or possibly shuffle board, for those completely unworldly.)
But don’t expect the Vauxhall Motors Bowling Club to be a snooze-fest. They are inviting celebrities, comedians, and DJs to what they are calling a lazy Sunday afternoon event. They will even have the Tecno/reggae/funk band Man Like Me performing live. So this is more like the U.K. equivalent of hanging out poolside at a trendy Las Vegas hotel.
So what about the car tie-in? Vauxhall is a car company, right?
Vauxhall has given artist Jamie Cullum three cars to help promote the company during the party. The first one is a Corsa that is wrapped to match the lawn. There’s also an Astra Twin-Top (similar to the former Pontiac G6 convertible) that has been transformed into an ice cream van. The final car is a new Astra hatchback that has been given the event’s retro/psychedelic logo.
Like any good promotional event, this party is free. So anyone in the London area this Sunday (August 1st) can visit www.vauxhallmotorsbc.co.uk to try to pick up a ticket.
