Ford is celebrating 100 years in the U.K., and for part of the celebration it is opening up its photo archives to showcase some of its greatest hits. But in this case it may also be one of Ford's greatest misses.
The Ford Transit van is a staple of the British commercial vehicle community. It combines good steering with a large amount of room. Workers across the pond have become fond of this van as the preferred transport for sizable urban deliveries (we get a smaller version over here known as the Transit Connect.) Hopefully the Transit van in this picture wasn't shipping anything fragile.
According to Ford this is a shot from a 1985 event. Stunt man Steve Matthews leaped his Transit over 15 cars to raise money for charity, and the only modifications were the removal of glass and some extra tape to keep the hood down.
